ABSTRACT | Over the past few years, objects called cluster varieties have appeared in several parts of mathematics and mathematical physics. In particular, Fock and Goncharov have shown that certain constructions from geometry, including versions of the Teichmuller space and the space of measured laminations on a surface, can be studied using cluster varieties. In this series of lectures, I will review the work of Fock and Goncharov. I will also discuss my recent work on a cluster variety called the symplectic double.
